A jovial young man with a black tunic and green cloak steps in, followed by a jade masked ioden. The mask bears a phrase across the brow, written in some form of red paint. Both are well kept and neat, though the ioden is oddly quiet and carries bags, likely luggage.
The young man speaks, a cheery tone. "Good day, gentlemen and ladies! Pleasant to meet you, I am called Jasper and this is Hugo, my guard. Howe does the day find you? "

As the door had opened Tannim looked down from his perch assessing the two who had walked in.

From his loft, tannim notices something odd: the Ioden's head is caved in on the back, an obviously killing blow.
Jasper gives Tannim a nod and a sly wink, the grin never leaving his face.
"Greetings, stranger! How do you fare? As stated, I am Jasper, and by what name might I call you?"

Tannim climbs down from his perch. Greeling Jasper I am Tannim. May I ask what brings you to Cynderfalls

"My, but you are a quick speaking young fellow. I'd imagine the wit matches the speed the words escape you! As for me, I am but an emissary. My business in this town is.. well, business! In the immediate future, I'd settle for a glass of wine and some bread, if I could find the Barkeep."
Jasper turns to the ioden and waves towards the door. "Hugo, you will stand 3 paces from the door. Place my luggage behind you, and guard the bags."
Silently, the ioden does the bidding of Jasper.
Sitting down at the bar, Jasper returns his attention to Tannim. "So, master Tannim, what is it that you do here, if I might ask? And what goings on are there, I wonder? "

Tannin with a lilt to his voice and a wry smile on his face responds oh I guess you would call me the town freelance I do an odd job here and there and tend to assist the town folk who need more than the local guard to keep them alive

"So you must be some sort of local celebrity then, and an adventurer to boot! In that case, I may yet request your aid in the future - you know, in the name of the commoners defense. What kind of trouble do you run into here? And why would the local guard need assistance from a freelancer such as yourself?"
Jasper smile never for a moment fades as he produces a small flask from a hidden pocket. He takes a drink, then offers it to Tannim.
"A spot of whiskey, my new friend?"

Tannim nods his head in a slight bow. Stating thank you good sir. I am not as much a celebrity as much as someone who likes to assist and feels a responsibility it first started with me taking a job that led to the settling of this town and well for awhile we lacked a town guard plus their duty is to protect and serve the town folk not to wander the woods every time a rumor arises but since we lost a squire do to over confidence of our group along with the Adventures Guild and the Order of the Four Pointed Star in my options

"It's good to see someone so young with such a zeal for personal accountability. Too often I find those with the means to do good misusing their strengths, and lesser men suffer for it. The adventurers guild is decent, for the most part.. they have their politicking, but I dont exactly agree with the hautiness of the four."
Jasper takes another draught of the whiskey, looks around, and puts it back into his pocket.
"So tell me, friend. What is it causing these poor citizens distress? Bandits? Natural disaster? Undead?"

Emerging from the back room, the Kur'asi tavern keeper Q'tar is seen reading what looks like an old tome. Once he sees people in the tavern catch his eye, he quickly closes the book, sending a plume of dust into the air.
He smiles. "My apologies. Welcome ! I am Q'tar, the owner and proprieter of this fine establishment. How may I serve?"
He gazes quickly at his trusted rogue friend, nods, then turns his attention back to the two strangers....

"Ah, wonderful. I am Jasper; the fellow by the door is called Hugo. Wave to our host, Hugo."
At Jasper's command, the ioden waves a stiff armed greeting to Qtar, until Jasper tells him to stop.
"I do say, your tavern has a remarkably warm and pleasant atmosphere! If it wouldn't be much of a bother-"
A pouch is fished out of an interior pocket, a smattering of silver clinking inside.
"-I'd like to have some red wine for myself, my new friend Tannim, and yourself. Some cheese as well. I'd also like to rent a private room for a few days until I have proper lodgings."

Q'tar watched the interaction with bemused interest, but shielded behind soft eyes and his smile. A Golem, or some dead abomination, he wondered....
"Of course, please, come in!!" he said jovially as he moved to the cupboard and fetched a decanter of wine from it. Then, with the fluidity of a swan, he swept three expensive goblets into his free hand and placed them on a table....
"what brings you here to Cynderfall, Mr. Jasper?" Q'tar asked, his smile never leaving his face...

"Much appreciated, master innkeeper."
Jasper accepts a goblet, toasts the natives, and smells the sweet aroma before drinking a taste of the wine.
"Very good, very good wine my friend. I am here on business, as I was telling young master Tannim. It seems my superiors desired an emissary to provide both insight and assistance in the region, so they sent me to be that aid."
Jasper looks up from his glass, returning Q'tar's gaze and smile.

Q'tar sat back in his chair, absently rubbing his chin, deep in thought....
"Insight and assistance, you say?" he asked, studying the face of his guest. "Anything I can assist you with? I might be able to guide you in the direction you need."
The tavern keeper leaned forward and filled Jasper's wine goblet.....

"I thank you for the offer. Let's see... how about the local hazards? I've noticed some undead eruptions in the locale. Is there something unpleasant in the area creating them?"
