Raphael stumbles into the Tavern as red as a tomato. He glances around, noting that it is largely empty, except for the proprietor - Q'tar.
He takes a few steps forward questionably, and then stumbles into Q'tar bawling like a rather large and formidable looking baby. Rather strangely, and before Q'tar can react, Raphael pulls back a little bit and looks at Q'tar's face and... starts laughing.
"I'm..." he laughs hysterically "so sorry!..." He can barely contain himself. Tears now flow down his face.
A few seconds pass, and Raphael puts his hands on his face and breaths a sigh of relief.
He stands and apologizes for his rather 'strange' behavior.
"Q'tar! You're so different than I remember you. And so much the same..." He looks puzzled.
"I've lived... and died... so much has happened. I wanted to come see you, and see about a fresh start between us. There's something that's changed in me. Something emotional. I'm having a hard time processing all of these feelings. When I remember things, it's triggering emotions I've never felt before..."
"Do you have something to drink... that might calm my nerves?"

Q'tar instinctively caught the paladin as he fell, allowing the look of surprise cross his face.
He must have done it, the Kur'asi thought as he watched the quick changes of Raphael's emotions, he broke his curse....
He led him to a table and sat him down. Quickly, and without saying a word, he reached behind the counter and grabbed a new crystal decanter. He also grabbed two glasses and moved back where Raphael sat. He pulled out the crystal stopper and poured two glasses of the smooth whisky contained inside.
"Here, my friend" Q'tar said. "You will be the first to try this. It is something new that I just acquired. I figure this is a good reason to test it out."
When he looked a little calmer, the Tavern Keeper eased back in the chair. "Try to relax, Raphael. Everything will be okay. Just try and relax."

"Memories... some funny... some sad... this is so strange...", he mutters.
He gazes around intently, as if he was discovering a new land.
Suddenly, he laughs hysterically again when seeing the board and remembering the Oni. "Perhaps I am a douché!", he cackles. "But no more."
He picks up his glass and raises it to the heavens, almost as if toasting the gods. "To a new shake on life!"
Raphael suddenly starts shivering. And then quickly composes himself. "We're going to have quite a battle with Gnasher though. On the way I happened upon his army. I'm going to learn what I can in how to best defeat him. I have some ideas..."
A massive look of disgust comes over his face. "His army EATS their victims, Q'tar."

Q'tar matches the look of disgust when Raphael mentioned eating the victims. "Well, let's try not to die, then."
He chuckled as he poured them another round. "On the house, my friend."
"So, who or what is this....Gnasher?" the Kur'asi esquire asked intently.

"Gnasher is the Alpha that beat out Da'hakas. He wields two trees as weapons, and all of his men wear armor. Da'hakas was there with him as well."
He cringes. Chopping heads off doesn't scare this PIT, but apparently eating the flesh of his victims does.
"Gnasher seems to be conquering everyone and anyone who stands in his way. By killing his victims, it shows me this is more for sport and pleasure than anything diplomatic. Still, I have a plan for defeating him when it reaches us. They wear armor, so piercing or acidic attacks would be highly effective. Also, they don't seem to have a strong magical presence. Basic spells are all. Finally, everything seems figured around Gnasher. If you can end him, the battle is over."
Raphael looks contemplative. Then takes a swig.

"Okay." Q'tar said.
He takes a drink as well. "Well, I guess I do not have to waste my time with some sort of diplomatic solution to that issue. When they come near or into town, we will end them."
The Kur'asi let out a sigh of relief. He remembered the last time he tried to talk to them 'diplomatically', and the disaster it brought.
"Let's just hope that Hakka does not make more deals with them behind our backs," Q'tar said jokingly. "All these political circling with him is dizzying."

"I still think the easiest thing to do would be to challenge Gnasher one on one, and find a way to end him. I met his cook in the forest once, and asked if he was honorable that way - she said she would find out."
Raphael looks surprised. A look of awe and amazement comes across his face.
"There was something more I need to discuss with you..."
Raphael whispers a few words in Q'tars ear.

Q'tar's face slightly darkened on the words that were whispered in his ear. He sat back, absently stroking his beard with his fingers.
After a few seconds he eased forward. "As long as you place no one in town in any danger, then you are approved to do what you ask."
He filled his glass once again and drank the entire glass. "We need to end this, my friend."
