This is the newest of the settlements in the barony, built by order of the baron to secure the Ashwood. Baron Norrin believes that there is a nexus hidden somewhere in the Ashwood, and he has offered a large reward to the first group who finds it. However, the Ashwood is a dangerous place, even with the limited protection that the settlement has to offer...

Boasting a population of over 25,000 residents, Winterrend is by far the largest city in the barony. It is a bustling city with stone walls and a tall fortress that stands at its center. This fortress is the home of Baron Norrin, and surrounding it are the manor houses of the most wealthy members of the barony. The town has a large and colorful bazaar, temples and cathedrals for every religion, and several large guild halls. You never know what you might find in the heart of Winter's Bane.

With around 10,000 residents, Riverwood is a relatively clean city that's occasionally plagued by floods from the River Lillith. Tanning and taxidermy are popular trades in this town due to the fact that it lies at the heart of the Stag's Crest Forest, and the swift river provides a natural power source for tinkerers and smiths. Riverwood itself is rougher around the edges than Winterrend, but it is a fine place for craftsmen and the brave of heart.

Newport is the outpost closest to Winterrend. It was originally intended to be a city of its own, a port town that would engage in sea trade with cities further to the north. However, the sea near Newport ended up being far too dangerous for consistent trade and travel. The town shrank until it became the "outpost" that it is today - a mostly vacant city by the sea.

Wyrmgard was the first outpost created specifically to be an outpost. It lies to the south of the mountain range known as the Fangs of the Wyrm and to the north of the Three Kings lakes. It is the outpost that is most often traveled through due to its proximity to Winterrend, It has three taverns, four inns, and one general store where travelers can restock on their supplies.
