Sharara sat alone at the table that she was working at, where she was most often found at the guard barracks. Other than the gently muffled sounds from outside, her surroundings were quiet. There was much on her mind now; not only had Q'Tar left, likely to the memory flame, they had finally come to ask her to do the same. She knew the time would come and it would be needed to be done. The longer she remained, particularly in Cynderfall, the longer she ran the risk of not being able to return to the memory flame. If things had been ready, she might have agreed, but they were not ready. Stacked on top of that had been the news that Sir Jacob had given her and her concerns about him. She could not leave, not yet anyway.
It was not all terrible, though. She had been able to begin watching those that may have the potential to grow into a replacement; it would be needed one day regardless of what happened. A part of her regreted that Q'Tar was not here to see it or to be a part of it. Their memories would be one in the memory flame someday, though.
Sharara sighed softly as she completed the last of the messages to be delivered. Once more, she would need to travel away from Cynderfall to attend to something critical. She hoped she was wrong and if she was not wrong, she hoped that she would be back in time.

Ashe approached Sharara's commonly used room in the barracks, she knocked as she opened the door.
"Squire Sharara," Ashe inquired, taking a seat across from Sharara. "I have concerns about the direction in which our town leadership is being filled. Do you mind if I take a few moments of your time to speak on these matters?" It was with a heavy heart that Ashe broached the subject but she knew the town needed more strong leaders to set an example beside Sharara... And with the options presented, perhaps there was a better representative they might nominate for the said position.
"It's been quite some time, almost two years, that I've been in this town, aside from the few months I was out in search of Q'tar..." Ashe sighed as she said his name, "I feel I could do a lot of good here in Cynderfall, and I'd like the chance to do so... It may sound cliche but.. in all honesty, this is the first time I've felt at home somewhere... in my entire life." Ashe had a slight smile, but also a look of concern on her face as she spoke, "I want to continue to shape our small town into what Q'tar had always imagined."
Ashe stopped speaking for a moment, almost abruptly. She looked around and lowered her voice before continuing, "I know that you know and agree, assuming what you told me the other night is true, that the way things are going currently, could bring our lovely Cynderfall to its knees and destroy it - very quickly." Ashe is visibly very concerned both for their town and Sharara's sake.

Sharara looked to the door at the sound of the knock. There wer a handful of people that came by regularly, though she has generally tried to maintain an open door policy to everyone, and thought it might be one of those. To her surprise, however, it was Ashe that stepped through the door. After a moment's thought, it was perhaps not so surprising. Mostly from what she had heard from talks with Q'Tar, the two were friends. She smiled a bit at the other woman. "Hello Ashe. What's on your mind?" Sharara gestured to the chair across from her.
As Ashe spoke, Sharara gave Ashe her full attention. The concerns brought up were expected, especially with the general reactions at the last gather. Sharara tapped her fingers lightly on the surface of the table thoughtfully for a second. "You're not alone in your feelings, Ashe. I think it's safe to say that everyone except a few agree with you. We have to work within the system now to see that changed, and everything that can be done about it right now is being done. If the deal is struck and it becomes official, what you see and hear and your voice will be very important. The people's council will be Cynderfall's best defense and your voice, and the voice of the others, carries more power and weight there than mine. I've encouraged everyone to use the People's Council regarding the Baron's recent decisions; the duel to the death, the matter of leadership in Cynderfall. So far as I'm aware noone has done it. If someone were to open the complaint, bring a representative here to Cynderfall, then maybe something more can be done in the more immediate future. If that's whta you want to do, that's my recommendation to you right now. There have been a lot of grumblings, a lot of complaints, but noone has cared enough to take initiative to do something about it. I would've gone to the People's Council weeks ago, but it's not meant for my use. They might listen to what I have to say, but as another noble it can easily be viewed as a conflict of interest on a political level."
Sharara sighs softly at the thought of Q'Tar, and the conversation she had with the Ku'rasi emissary she had. "Q'Tar wanted a lot of things for Cynderfall. Given our location, I'm not sure all of them are obtainable," she grins wryly, "but certainly some are."
Sharara studied Ashe for a few moments. "Share your thoughts with me. What do you think needs to be done here? What do you want to do personally as part of that?"

Ashe listens to Sharara's suggestions regarding the People's Council, "Who could I contact? What representative do you know of? I haven't a clue who is currently a part of the People's Council..." She lets Sharara finish her thoughts before continuing.
Ashe thinks for a few moments, what do I think needs to be done.. What do I want to do?... Ashe never had thought she would get this far in a conversation and didn't know how to word what she wanted. With the thought of Q'tar on her mind and everything that is going on, she slowly says, "I want the job instead."
Ashe was surprised that she was able to say what she wanted so bleakly, she continued, "With Q'tar gone, there are only two of us left from the beginning of Cynderfall. I came only one month after the Founding Fathers claimed this land. Hakka and myself are the only ones left from that time. You, Raphael, and many others came shortly after, within a quarter of a year, if I recall correctly... Sorry, off on a tangent, my bardic nature comes through when I think of stories of the past two years, and it's difficult to stay on topic. The main point is... I want the job. I think I could do a lot of good here. I want to see good people in power, and I want to know that I'm doing everything in my power to make sure this town succeeds." Ashe smiles softly, "I suppose I should be speaking with the Knight about this, I just..." Ashe paused for a moment, looking into Sharara's eyes, "I know you know of me, I know Q'tar spoke to you about me," Ashe looked determined as she finished her sentence, "Sharara, I want your support."

"Hmm, I believe it was a couple weeks after the time when the monster Q'Tar dubbed zipper-head was killed that he asked for me to come here." Sharara considers it a moment. "It seems almost a lifetime ago."
Sharara patiently gives Ashe the time to think on what she wants to say and to put out there what she wants. Then, she smiles a little. "I don't think that his position will be filled immediately, at least not in the time of the next gather. With the news from the Baron, it's become rather complicated. For now, do what you can for Cinderfall; jot down the sorts of things you would do if you were to have the position. I don't think it is the best of times, right now, to bring such things to Sir Jacob. As for the people's council, no, I don't have any names. I'm sure in Riverwood or Winterrend one could be easily located. If I learn anything, I'll let you know."

Ashe looks at Sharara and listens intently to her words with hope, "Thank you for your help. I will do as you said. If you can think of anything else that I should do in the meantime, let me know. For now, I will try to get a message to the People's Council, and figure out what can be done." Ashe begins to leave, but walks slowly, in the case that Sharara wishes to give her any more advice before she departs.

"I'll be leaving soon, Ashe, to take care of something. I expect to be gone for a few weeks possibly; help keep an eye on things." Sharara gave her a nod. "Good luck, pull others together with you when it comes time to talk to the people's council. The more voices there are, the more difference it could make." She would let Ashe depart as she wished.

Ashe seemed a little puzzled that Sharara would be leaving, but it seemed to be serious, "I will try to keep an eye on things for you.." Ashe continued as she left, "Thank you, Sharara, again for lending me some time to speak today. Safe Travels, love. And may the Seven guide you." Ashe walked out of the door, a sigh of relief leaving her lips. She now knew what must be done.
"Velia, guide me in your shadow, Aethus, in your light," Ashe said quietly to herself before heading out of the building.
