Raphael approaches the hut of Sharara, and carefully places some traps around the entrance of her hut. Nothing detrimental or harming, just some branches to bang on pots and warn him of anyone who might try to approach.
He glances around, rather suspiciously. And then taps several times on the hut door. It's a rather unique rhythm that sounds like a knife on a chopping block.
His eyes intent, his ears perk up, anxiously awaiting some movement.

There is no indication of movement for several seconds, then, just before the door opens, there is the sound of footsteps. Sharara raises a brow slightly at seeing Rafael. "Hello, Rafael. What brings ou to Cynderfall?"

"I have some urgent, but confidential business. Might I come in?"
He looks around, rather paranoid. Quite unlike the Raphael that most people would know.
A vambrace touches the hut, and let's out a sizzle as it begins to light the hut on fire. He quickly removes it, and blows on it to insure there is no spontaneous incineration.

Sharara releases a small sigh with the new scorch mark on the wood. "Of course." She eyes him a little as she steps aside to let him enter, noting the paranoid like behavior. Once he enters, she closes the door behind him. "You seem a little on edge."

"There are things out there in the woods. You wouldn't believe the horrors I've seen."
He turns to Sharara and suddenly get's a big grin on his face.
"I've started a new camp in the Ashen Woad. You're familiar with the place - where the lay lines meet and Nathan Relelhart lived?" He said suggestively.
"You're welcome to come visit, when you'd like. Just don't attempt entry past the walls without assistance. We've setup some pretty nasty traps and defenses. In addition, the reliquary acts as a magical protectant that would probably keep you out."

"I seem to remember you mentioning that before." She gives him a curious look. "If you're not with the church anymore, you don't think that you should return it to them? For that matter, do you think it wise to be living in such a place with those bracers on you given where they might come from?"
Sharara shakes her head a little. "I've a pretty good idea of the things in the Ashwood. But, if you want to share, what have you seen recently?"

Raphael ponders for a moment.
"It's true the church and I have had our disagreements. But I still consider myself a Follower of the Four, namely my lady, the Goddess of Chaos. Perhaps it's this attraction that has kept me from balance."
He smirks. "Don't you remember the worm, and Father Brassbell? You cold heartedly allowed his murder." He chuckles jokingly.
"As for the forest, there are tons of Kriegan approaching. The horrors of those battles..."

"Perhaps you're right about your attraction to chaos." Sharara gives Rafael an almost exasperated look at his attempt to joke, the mention of the Kregen being more than enough reason to not grace it with a verbal response. "Kregen?" Her brow furrows. "How many have you seen?"
Sharara moves to a shelf, picks up a long roll of paper only to unfurl it on a table to reveal a map of the area, and the ashwood that she has been working on over time. "Can you show me?"

Raphael points to several locations on the map.
"I've seen Kriegan here and here." He grimaces.
"But the rumors I've heard, is that there's been some kind cease and desist with battle. Have you heard about that?"

"I have heard about it, but I don't know much about it. I find it hard to believe after the effort the Kregen have put forth to get to us here that they would agree to just stop."

"Considering that this whole battle essentially started because of your decisions, I would have thought you'd have more of a stake in things."
He ponders for a second. "Perhaps that's their intent - to come here in a display of peace, and take their own justice. I honestly haven't met a Kriegan that I trusted yet."

"My decisions? No... my say in the Kregen didn't go far in what was decided. It wasn't my responsibility then to make those decisions. Though.... in hindsight, if I had made it my responsibility things would be different."
Sharara shrugs a little. "It's possible. We've successfully kept them back so far. They could be attempting subterfuge."

Raphael recalls back to that weekend, when he had proven his innocence, and the dealings with the Kriegan had been going on. There had been a lot, his focus certainly hadn't been on the Kriegan, either.
"I would be ready for anything of course. We've seen them in battle. They'll enrage and... nothing good would happen."
Raphael shrugs. "Do you have any plans for defense of the settlement?"

"There has been work for the defense of the town and the nexus both over the last several months and so far between our efforts and the efforts of Sir Jacob's men, we've done well to repel them." She looks at the points that he pointed out again briefly, then back to Rafael. "Any information you can continue bringing back, Rafael, would be an asset to the continued effort in that regard; numbers, composition, anything."

Raphael grins at Sharara. He pictures the inept town guard doing their best - without proper armor or training. To her, he probably appears to just randomly be smiling as stares at the wall.
"You need to train the guard on strengths and weaknesses of Kriegan troops, put some real weapons in their hands, plant some traps outside of the road around around the unprotected places, and really work on that wall... it's literally knee high."
He looks bewildered. "What happened to Q'tar? You both decided to declare war on the Kriegan nation, and now he's gone MIA..."
