Raphael returns to the market square to look for his young adventurer in training, Eric.
He glances over at the Temple to see if the young child is there, but does not see her. Perhaps she is inside with the one-armed thief to whom he had offered sanctuary and employment?
For all his sins, he had certainly done a massive amount of atonement in such a short time.
And then he sees him... a frail old man sitting beneath the tree. He approaches.
"Good day sir, what brings you here on such a lovely day? Made it through some of our elemental struggles, I see."

With a raspy and shaky voice, the man replies "Greetings. Elemental struggles? Is the weather swift in it's change in these parts? I've been looking for a quiet town in which I may settle. Would you recommend this area for such a man as myself?"

Raphael ponders a moment. Examines the old man. And suddenly... starts laughing!
Between bouts of uncontrollable laughter, he states, "Oh, Cynderfall is very calm and quiet!"
He drops his head between his hands. Pauses for a few seconds to compose himself, and continues.
"There's always something going on. But we could always use the experience of one such as yourself."
He bows slightly.
"I am Raphael Relelhart. Proprietor of the local shop, and founder of our small Temple. Who might you be?"

The old man takes a step back from Raphael as he's startled from the laughter."My name?" The words weakly escape the covered man's lips. "Oh, I haven't been asked that in a long time. I am known as Carry Ann. Now, with your reaction, do I sense a bit of facetiousness?"

Raphael shakes his head, and says very sternly, "No."
"I've recently come into emotions, and things are very different for me. I've burst into different emotions randomly lately... but I seem to be grasping things... finally."
He gazes at the man. "We're not entirely quiet. But generally about once a month or so something happens that keeps the adrenaline pumping."
He gaze appears more intent. "Tell me more about yourself Carry Ann - I would love to hear tales about your life."

"Well, Sir Raphael, I've been travelling quite a long time. Fortunately, it's been uneventful but I fear I may be playing my luck too long travelling by myself. Speaking of luck, for the most part, things for me have been quite unfortunate. The reason I'm completely covered is I am horrifically scarred because of disease. The physicians are uncertain if is capable to be spread, so I was advised to cover completely. As long as I am covered, I contain the disease. It is uncertain as to why it hasn't killed me. So, forgive me if I do not shake hands, but it's for the safety of others and I mean nobody any harm, let alone the suffering I've had to bear. Enough about me, tell me more about Cynderfall."

Raphael grins.
"Cynderfall is a relatively new settlement. We've dealt with forest creatures, elementals, grims, undead, liches, vampires, werewolves, and fae. We have a tax collector and an executioner. What more would you like to know?"

"Elementals huh? When you first mentioned them, I assumed you meant the weather frequently changes drastically." He chuckles and is interrupted by a brief coughing fit.
"How old is the settlement? Perhaps it isn't as safe as I had hoped with all that you've mentioned."

"I would say it's less than a year old."
He glances around, making sure there isn't anyone else listening.
"To be honest, Cynderfall isn't for everyone. Our town guard is constantly dying. Only the strong will survive."
He takes a look to size the old and frail man.
"You're welcome to stay in the Temple for a few days while you decide if this place is right for you."

"I must thank you for your kind and generous offer, Sir Raphael, but I cannot let myself burden anyone, let alone a temple. I must say, I feel rather safe in the outdoors. After all, the freshest of air is out here."

"It would be no bother at all. Currently in my care are a recovering addict, a 7-year old child, a one-armed reformed thief, and an adventurer in training named Eric."
He grins at the old man. Perhaps he would make a good addition to the collection?

"Again, I thank you for the polite offer, but I must decline. After all, it sounds like you already have a handful." The man takes a careful step back from Raphael and begins to cough.
"I will keep the offer in mind though."
Carry leaves the market place to wonder.

Time goes by... The sweet coolness of a mild winter gives way to the pounding storms and be growth of spring.
The marketplace behind to feel a change... Pleasantries and jovial thirst for life gives way to fleeting glances and occasionally heard fury. Slowly, surely, stocks have been reducing and prices have been expanding. Hard bargains are made, but all can tell some alteration in supply has come. A few merchants seem in better moods, owing, they say, to their Lucky charms.
A caravan comes in, with a palpable sigh of relief from the quickly leaden peddlers picking up their orders. A surprising face is seen amongst the guards, dressed in a new suit of mail. Domhnall stretches, and stuffs a pipe into his surly face.

After the chaos and strife that ensued during the most recent town gathering, Seven can be seen in the Market Square during the day quite often. Whenever he is not in the tavern recanting his usual exaggerated tales, he can be seen going here and there in the Market, striking up deals and bartering from time to time, but mostly just browsing the wares and providing commentary on the finer goods. "My, that is some very high quality fabrics you have there! It's a wonder you have any left, as I'm sure that any man, woman, or otherwise would gladly spend part of their fortune for the chance at wearing such fine linen!" He speaks with an almost over-confident and optimistic tone despite the trying times that have fallen on the town. Almost always with some semblance of a smile on his face, he traipses around the market, sometimes pausing to jot down a few scribbles in a small book after something catches his interest.
