Featuring the most prominent buildings in town, a laborer or friend could almost always be found intermittently here. Regularly patrolled by guardsmen and well lit for a relatively new town.

Raphael enters the Market Square and examines his surrounding. The sun shines brightly, a slight breeze whips through the settlement and provides some reprieve from the heat of the day.
He takes a seat underneath a lone tree and observes the surrounding. The settlement is always on the offensive - it must take time to recover.

The newly dubbed Squire moves about the market square. Such wanderings weren't uncommon for Sharara as she was always on the look out for a good deal on components for both her rituals and her crystal crafting. Tomes of particular interest to her did not frequently come through such a small place like Cinderfall, but it never hurt to keep an eye out none-the-less.

Seeing Sharara out and about, Raphael stood from where he was resting and approached.
"Your majesty." he stated, then bowed ever so slightly. "What brings you out on a beautiful day like today?"
He pauses for a second, then continues; "If you've got something missing, I don't even want to hear about it!"
He grins, partially to convince himself that recent events should just be laughed off. Partially because he had a plan to catch the true culprit. And partially just to maintain the nature of his and Sharara's relationship.
Though the two had little in common, Sharara had obligated herself to his care with a promise made to Father Brassbell. And though hesitant at first, Raphael had come to rely on her skills with Thaumaturgy. Indeed, he was instructed to listen to Sharara as his conscience - and many times he had asked permission to take someone's head, only to be stoutly told 'NO!'.

Sharara pauses at the all so familiar voice of Raphael. "Majesty?" The Ku'rasi 'hmms' in mild amusement. "I think that's a little above my station." The significant difference in how people acted around her almost instantly was something she was still getting adjusted to.
"Miss--Oh.." Sharara gives a slight shake of her head. "I'd be careful. Q'Tar is still a little sore over that. It could go a long way, though, if you could figure out who was responsible. Assuming it wasn't Toxin."
"But, no. I'm not missing anything. I'm keeping an eye out for any useful components."

Raphael gleams at the Ku'rasi. "You would think that he would know better. I'm a man of self-interest, for sure, but stealing isn't one of them."
He pauses for a second, and then adds, "Unless it's a head." Then jokingly winks.
"There is a certain matter that I would like to implore your help with. Do you have time to travel with me and attend to some business?"

"I think the theft was only a culmination of things, Raphael. You haven't done well to endear yourself to others, particularly with Q'Tar. Because of this, to most, you are a reasonable suspect. And the thing being found in your temple, as I understand it, doesn't help with that imagery." Hopefully, self-interest or not, Raphael would give that some thought.
"That depends on the business. What did you have in mind?"

Raphael grins politely at Sharara. For being placed in charge of the settlement's security, she didn't know much about what happened in it.
"It is time to end a curse. I have several ways to do do this. But in the end my question is; do you think you are up to the task?"

"I've given my word that I'd see this to the end, Raphael. I have to be." Sharara considers him a moment. "I think the true question is are you up to the task and prepared for what comes after?"
"If we succeed, things will be very different for you. You might even find yourself overwhelmed. Despite that, some things won't change. You've made a reputation for yourself and left impressions upon others that will most certainly work against you. If you desire to continue on a path to be a Paladin with the church and to change how things have been thus far, you'll first have to work to change that reputation and impressions. Only then will you be able to start working towards earning the trust of those around you. Do you believe yourself ready for those challenges?"

"Yes, I know that I'm ready for this. And I have developed several plans for getting this resolved. My first plan is ironically peaceful. The oracles said that his humanity could be appealed to. That means it's up to you to appeal to his long lost humanity; for obvious reasons I wouldn't be able to get him to shed a tear. I also thought of bringing his childhood sweetheart. She's getting up there in age and I am sure she'd like to see him again before her legacy ends. It is possible that she might stir some emotions in him that we could not - and appeal to a humanity that was long forgotten."
He pauses and contemplates for a second.
"As for what comes after, there is much you do not know. I have been paying reparations to the church, nursing the sick back to health and helping where I can. An addict of Stardust is recovering in the temple right now even. In an effort to restore a relationship with Q'tar, I even offered to take him to Brother. Which he refused. A reputation of being strong and decisive is not something I feel the need to make amends for. While you and Q'tar might see fit to kill people with words, I would prefer to speak softly and carry a big stick. Of course there are things I regret. I regret bringing death upon so many. But, in the end, my goals were met."
He takes a second to collect his thoughts.
"I pledge that once this is over, I will no longer carry a blade."

Sharara nods slightly to his plan. "Is it something she wants to be a part of?"
"Those are good starts, Raphael." She smiles a little. "But, I think that you aren't able in your current circumstances to see or understand how complicated many things actually are. Emotion is... a force in itself, like life or death. It touches and influences everything and everyone in some way; even you. In becoming a paladin, it's something you'll need to come to learn and see that strength involves much more than how well you swing your blade."

"You seem hesitant with my plans. I do have a contingency of course... but it wouldn't be very pretty. Three plans to deal with a problem is pretty good... I thought. Of course if he asks to come live in a town the answer is 'No!"
Raphael grins. He's not going to get sentenced to death again for trying to be nice.

"Well timed caution can give a person the opportunity to consider multiple outcomes and concequences of choices. For example, at its simplest reuniting Nathan and Aldrena would be a good thing. However, deeper consideration brings about such questions as; How much has Nathan changed, if at all? A lot of time has passed and experiences shape people. Will he even still know or remember Aldrena? Will he in fact be pleased to see her or are we potentially putting Aldrena in danger if it enrages him? Aldrena is old and her mind is going. Will she in that moment be clear of mind enough to recognize him for who he is and who she knew him as? Will she remain in her confusion and react in fear? Do we even know where we are going to find Nathan? These are things we have to consider, because if we take her with us, we're responsible for her life and safety."

After speaking with Sharara, Raphael sets back to his house to pack up a few things before their quest.

A man, covered head to toe in dark cloth and robes enters the market square. Holding tightly onto a walking stick with both hands, he quietly he peruses the items being sold, but decides there are few items he could afford or that would be useful to him. He makes his way to the edge of the market and finds a tree to lean against and shields himself from the warmth of the sun. It's been a long journey, and it is time for some much needed rest.
