Raphael stands before the altar at the Temple of the Four Pointed star. Silently chanting in undistinguishable words, his eyes are closed, praying to his goddess. A town guard takes a seat, looking solemnly at what is taking place. Unfamiliar with the religion or what actions Raphael is taking.
Around him, a one armed man replaces some burned out candles, and a young orphan sweeps between the chairs. The solemness of the temple seems calming, and yet eerie.
Disturbing the silence, a town guard barges through the door, approaches Raphael, and hands him a letter with the seal of the Esquire Q'tar.
Raphael nods, and the guards exchange a quick smirk, and then the messenger carries on his way.

[Yep. Describe what your character does and mannerisms. So you'd introduce your Flare by coming into the Temple. How does she do it? Barge in. Gracefully waltz in. Sneak in?
What does she do once she's inside? Examine her surroundings? Walk right up to Raphael and hand him all her gold? (that's a joke!).
Does she say anything? How does she say it?
Try to keep things limited to one coherent thought. Board etiquette is generally you post, they reply, and back and forth. You're welcome to PM me when you've got something up. Good board posts can go days!
If something's out of character, I throw it in these [] things to make sure everyone knows.]

[here goes]
Flare walks slowly into the temple, her boots faintly echoing in the stone walls. When she sees Raphael, she pauses uncertainly, her dark eyes flicking across the temple walls.

Raphael senses the movement in the doors, and the uncertain footsteps. He quickly turns with a smile on his face.
"Welcome Flare... I wasn't aware you were a follower of the Four. Though I can definitely sense some chaos deep within you."
He studies Flare for a moment, as he almost ponders her future.
"What brings you to the Temple on this glorious day? To learn about the Four? The Adventurer's Guild? Perhaps to buy some things from my merchants guild connections?"

The door to the temple opens once more, a rolled parchment in Sharara's hand as she enters. She gives a nod to the guard looking after Rafael and to Flair. "I got your message Rafael. What do you need?"

Raphael's eyes widen with pure joy as he see's Sharara. A grin creepily sneaks open from the left side of his face to the right.
"Sharara!", he exclaims. "Thank you for coming. I hope my raven didn't offend you." His smirk turns a little bit playful at this point.
"I wanted to turn a leaf and become a little more orderly." He emphasizes the word 'orderly', like it was unnatural for him.
"I asked Q'tar for information on the coin that was given for finding the Nexus, very pleasantly I would say. Not demandingly. Just asking to grow our troubled economy here...", he says and passes one letter to Sharara.
"And he returns my message very angrily demanding I respect his authority and not send him anything else via 'bird'." Raphael struggles to keep his composure. But then suddenly turns more solemn, "And challenges Sir Jacob's honor by insinuating I have him in my pocket - and if I don't like what Q'tar has to say, to have the Knight override him." He hands over a copy of an additional letter.
"Rather than a rash honor duel, or burning something down, I bring this to you. As Sir Jacob's trusted Squire, I hand over this act of unquestionable insubordination into your capable hands. I sense Q'tars animosity in regards to the Jacob's verdict at the trial - feelings which I don't understand. After abandoning the city for months on end, he comes back and pretends to suddenly care about strangers he has met for a few hours."
"As my guard would attest, I am not an evil man. I have simple tastes and pleasures. A glass of wine here, enjoying the presence of a beautiful Ku'rasi there.", he winks rather awkwardly at Sharara. Apparently flirting came along with his new emotions. The guard cringes in terror.
"But also his mention of authority troubles me. We may argue from time to time, but my respect for you doesn't dwell on your title. You've researched and we've battled the same things side by side. We quarrel, but if you need me you know you have my back. And likewise, I know that I can come to you and voice my concerns. I worry that Q'tars power is going to his head - demanding to be respected, to not receive letters, and sending those that would protect our settlement away in the middle of a battle in the woods. Does it not bother you that he sent our entire party - including yourself, away from the tree mother - and that as a result trees shortly attacked us after?"
"Or how about that hit, Sharara? 200 silver to kill Raphael Relelhart... who has issued these kind of hits before?", he hands her an old wanted poster. On it, the face of the Priest Naphem. "Q'tar is the only one I know who offers silver for blood."
Raphael looks winded.
"I ask you here for 3 reasons. First, to advise you of Q'tars thirst for power and to ask you to handle this in the best of your means. Challenging Sir Jacob's honor is offensive, not just to the knight, but for all of us who respect him. Second, to ask you to look into the news of the hit. Find out who ordered it and deliver justice. And Third, to ask your permission to offer a living sacrifice to my beloved goddess - something that deserves death."

Sharara watches Rafael impassively. She was still uncertain of the reasons and motivations behind this crush or fascination with her that Rafael suddenly had developed. The thoughts were pushed aside, however, as this was not the time currently.
Her brow furrows a little at his comment regarding the raven. "Is there some reason why a raven would offend me?"
As if in answer to the question, Rafael continues. Sharara accepts each letter as he hands them to her and reads each. A soft sigh escapes her as she finishes reading.
Sharara is silent as Rafael continues on, rolling up the messages and tucking them away.
"A sacrifice?" Her brow furrows a little. "Is that necessary?" She did not know of any sacrificial ceremonies that the Four Pointed Star took part in, but thens he was not part of that religion.
"If the rumor is true, and there is a bounty out for you, it isn't recognized within the pervue of Cynderfall regardless of who has placed it. I don't foresee much trouble with it since there is no information on how to collect, but if more comes of it other than a rumor it'll be handled accordingly."
On the matter of Q'Tar, she slowly takes a deep breath and releases it just as slowly. "I won't go into things regarding the Esquire, they're too complicated. I will say that, yes the specifics of the reward for the discovery of the nexus was for those who laid eyes on it for the first time. You seperated from us before nightfall that day well before we located the nexus. However, a fair amount of that coin was reserved for Cynderfall's coffers. In this, you will still get to see it help the town's economy. It'll just not be from your hands, this time."
Sharara falls silent for a few moments before continueing. "Thank you for bringing this to me."

Raphael smiles at Sharara.
“As far as the sacrifice goes, it’s not a requirement of our faith, no. But as you know, I have been touched by Deidre. I’m going to see about making it a ceremony where we bring life and death to honor our gods. We need all the divine favor we can get.”
He stares at the altar for a brief minute.
“I was hoping that Flare here would help me with the ritual. Her showing up here seemed like a step forward in the right direction. We will find her killer, but I want to make sure to abide by the laws while In the settlement. As you know, my ways are sometimes harsh.”

"There are certainly enough hostile beasts and aborations in the Ashwood. If you really must, I suppose something of that nature is acceptable." Sharara eyes him a moment. "Given the faith you're part of, have you considered that by following your faith at its fullest, instead of one aspect, would garner you more divine favor?"

“Definitely. That’s why I’m trying death next.”, he chuckles.
“Life, death, order and chaos. These are the four points of the star.”
He motions towards one of the holy symbols.

"Yes and the observance is the balance between all four. You take one, chaos, and focus on it to an extreme. Perhaps if you observed all four equally, simotaneously, to achieve the center balance things might be less discordant for you."

Raphael tilts his head slightly sideways.
"It isn't the gods that are discordant to me - it's people. If you were a god, would you want a lukewarm sacrifice, or something extreme?", Raphael grins.
"Men aren't remembered for the things they do well, they are remembered for the things they do that are extraordinarily."
He looks at Sharara. "Right now, you're known for allowing a noble to come in and order a duel to the death - killing the people you're sworn to protect. I know you, and I know that wasn't your intention. But life is seemingly about making reparations for things you didn't intend or expect."
He pauses. "You probably wonder why you receive so much blame for what happens here - and I've deliberated it. It is because you are capable, where others are not. I hand you information all the time because I know you are capable of handling it. While I am more than capable of handling it, I think you would generally prefer a less obtrusive way. And so I concede to work with others who are better at certain things that I am not."
