Jasper shrugs at the insult and behind to eat.
"Now then, good Norton. We aren't all like your hated Malga. My assistance was essential in the final destruction of Xerxes. I simply think a bunch of peasants aren't the best force to be fighting undead... You should leave it to the professionals."

Norton scowls at the mention of Magla. If you know of the hag Magla then you know of the scourge that destroyed our town and murdered our families.
Where were your “professionals” then?
Norton does not wait for a reply… he continues…
We had to fend for ourselves and we did. Us “peasants” destroyed her army and sent Magla back to the swamp where she belongs!
It seems to me, considering the threat, you would want every dedicated individual in this fight, especially those that have fought this menace in the past; but if station is all that matters to you than so be it.
Understand this… we don’t need your permission to destroy the undead and I am not asking for it.

Jasper waves a juice stained hand in dismissal of Norton's ill mood.
"I've no reason to dissuade you from your course. Go be my guest, kill all the undead you please. And if you happen to simply keep your ally Jasper informed as to these murderous misadventures, all's the better."
Jasper pulls out a kerchief and wipes his hands before stuffing it back into a pouch. Satisfied as to having established identify and position of the new tool at hand, he makes a few mental notes as he closes the window on the warrior.
From behind the shutter, Norton can hear an additional word from the guildsmen.
"While you're being the hero, remember to not get killed. I might even have work for you shortly, if you happen to think my silver as valuable as anyone elses."

Norton turns on his heel and walks back passing Micah. "Come along its time for a drink!" They both head back to the tavern.

Days after the fight with the Kreigen and other monstrosities, Norton returns to the Necromancer's guild hall. He wears his cloak which bears the mark of his order.
Norton enters the building looking for Jasper.

Jasper pops into place on a ritual circle, looking quite ragged and unkempt. Leaves and moss in his hair, as well as a sack bulging with unknown content.
He absent mindedly bungles around the hall, and eventually ends up behind a desk with a cup of peppermint tea, staring off past Norton.
"Griffin Norton. Good evening."

Jaspers game lazily settled on Norton's face, as he begins tho methodically sort out the contents of his sack.
"Very well. Please begin, I'm listening."

"Alright then... First off there seems to be a new form of undead strolling around these parts... We encountered an abborent wyrm. It appears that somehow it brings the dead back through some sort of spore... The resulting undead are not overly powerful, but I dont know if they grow more powerful if they are not destroyed in a timely manner. I am still trying to figure out the specifics, but I thought it might be something you would be interested in. These undead are unique and recognizable as they have vines protruding from their mouths"
Norton waits for Jasper's responce before continuing.

Jasper' s eyes never quite settle as he digs deeper in his bag. On the desk is a hodgepodge of herbs, inert vines, bones, flecks of reddish metal, and chunks of green stone.
At Norton's pause, he focuses his gaze on the vines, and holds one to inspect.
"I'm not convinced these vine parasites are undead, not in the traditional sense. What we refer to an undead is a spirit bound to flesh without will. The binder imparts direction to the spirit as a sort of trade, but this vine doesn't seem to be animating the flesh. regardless, I do appreciate your bringing me into the loop. I might suggest the capture of one, for study, and elsewise to work more on identifying weaknesses."

Norton relaxes a bit, their previous tension diminished by the business at hand and by Jasper's civility...
"I agree... we should learn more about these automatons... there is another matter as well... A shade has attached itself to someone in the town... I was hoping you might have a suggestion on how to drive it out so it can be destroyed"

Scalding hot peppermint tea spurts from Jasper' s nostrils with a snort. When he finishes coughing, a quick murmur sees fire burst from his hand into candles at the end of the table.
While jasper hastily lights all the candles in he room, he begins to talk.
"Shades are... awful. I don't want to think of where it may be hiding, or when it may appear. But there's no telling when it will next appear. Do you know for sure where this one came from, and who it may be stalking now? "

"This Shade.. was stalking a local boy..."
Norton hesitates unsure if Jasper was trustworthy, but ultimately decided he has nothing to lose...
"The shade moved on to me."

Jasper pushes Norton into the center of the hall, where light strikes him from every angle and his shadow is forced to retreat under his feet. He them returns to his chair, the pouch of ingredients forgotten as he stares blankly over interlocked fingers at Norton.
"Who else have you told? By all rights, I should have you imprisoned or destroyed as a threat to the town's safety. For our... mutual ... benefits, I will refrain from informing the Masters of this."
The mage takes a sip of his tea, thinking inwardly. It was apparently an amusing thought, he grinned broadly for a moment.... he returned to his neutral expression and continued.
"There is not much definitively known about shades. Some theories include dining on dreams, memories, or emotions. They may be immune to physical weapons. They are, however, adverse to light. the stronger, the more powerful the effect. Or they might prey upon that hope. If nothing else, you will make for interesting study. "

Norton shoots Jasper a suspicious glare...
"First of all Jasper... I am not going to stand here and become an item of study. If you want to help me get rid if this creature and learn from the experience in the process, we can do business. If you were to try anything against my will, I'll make this endeavor as problematic as possible for you... its your choice."
Norton sways a bit letting his shadow creep out from beneath him ever so slightly before returning to center hiding it under his feet again...
"As far as telling other people, Sharara knows, as well as Micah and Zodean. I suppose its possible others have overheard us speaking about it as well."
